In the year 15 she officially changed her name, adopting an Italian title "de Rossi" which was glamorous. She took the name "Portia" from Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. The Merchant of Venice. The career of Portia began in Hollywood by appearing in the romantic drama 'Sirens. The film featured her alongside Hugh Grant. Portia also played a role in several American film and TV series like Too Something, Nick Freno, licensed Teacher, Arrested Development, as well as, Better Off Ted. She was famous for her character as a Boston-based attorney named Nelle Porter in a television comedy show called Ally McBeal. Her character was the show's primary comedy relief.
